Back on Clear Waters: Finding Our Rhythm Again

We’re back where we love to be - where the water is so clear you can see the bottom and the conches as you sail by. The days are longer, the rain is warm, and the nights are scattered with endless stars. The wind blows a steady 20 knots for days, filling our sails and guiding us forward.

This is where we feel like ourselves again, where life flows with a rhythm that makes sense and syncs perfectly with nature.

Life out here isn’t always easy.

The pace is slower, the supermarkets are simpler, and the things you want are often unavailable. Water costs 0.4 cents per gallon, apples are $1.20 each, and the no-see-ums-those pesky, nearly invisible bugs - attack like clockwork every evening. And when things break (and they always do), getting them fixed can be a real challenge. Frustration is part of the deal.

But even with these challenges, we wouldn’t trade it for anything.

The beaches, the snorkeling, the quiet nights, and the vast expanse of stars overhead-they remind us why we love this life. There’s a unique magic in not knowing what swims beneath the boat, stepping onto untouched sand after high tide, or leaving your name on a deserted island as a small mark of your journey. It’s these little moments that make this life extraordinary.

Here, emotions run high. The sunsets are more vivid, the friendships feel deeper, and the frustrations can hit sharper. Everything carries a sense of heightened beauty and intensity. Each experience is amplified, whether it’s the joy of discovering a new spot or the annoyance of something not working as planned. But this intensity is part of the adventure. It reminds us that we’re alive, fully present in every moment.

Returning to the clear waters feels like coming home. It’s a chance to reconnect with the simplicity and beauty that first drew us to this lifestyle. The rhythm of life at sea-guided by the winds, the tides, and the sun-grounds us in a way nothing else can.

Every day brings new discoveries, whether it’s the thrill of spotting a stingray, the peaceful solitude of a quiet anchorage, or the laughter shared over a simple meal aboard.

Here’s to another season on the water. May it bring luck, laughter, friends, and good winds!
